Buzzin’ Buzzards
Control-Line Model Airplane Club
Present Status-Future Plans
Jan. 5, 2011
Our flying facility has been the best in Ohio, but is now deteriorating and in need of repair and upgrading. In addition to regular usage by local members, our club hosts three contests per year open to flyers from the entire region. Also, similar clubs from Akron, Columbus, and Cincinnati have used our field to host events for which their own fields are inadequate. (There is a modest gain in the local economy in the form of motel, restaurant, and fuel sales during each of these events.)
Priorities as seen by the club are as follows;
At a minimum, our blacktop needs to have cracks filled and entire surface resealed.
o Dream fix would be a righteous crack repair job, followed by a new smooth topcoat of blacktop and sealant.
With the removal of the outhouses in 2010, restroom facilities of some sort need to be supplied. We suggest a single, city-supplied and maintained Port-a-Potty from early May through October.
Addition of a permanent 12’ X 12’ on-site storage building for club equipment, permanently affixed to a concrete slab and powered with 100 AMP AC underground service to an inside-building lockable disconnect and remotely-readable meter so that no external evidence of power or metering is evident when building is locked up. Building and electrical disconnect will have to be unlocked for access to the AC power.
o Building/Port-a-Potty to be mounted on same slab. Building to have a single access via either an overhead garage door opening an entire side of the building for access, or a pair of wide shed doors essentially allowing the same wide access.
o Building to be a pre-fab or pole building with either vinyl or metal siding for zero maintenance.
